Job Overview:

The Logistics Officer will be responsible for coordinating requisitioning and ensuring the timely delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations. This position requires a proactive approach to managing logistics vendors, gathering market intelligence, and ensuring compliance with corporate standards. The Logistics Officer will also be involved in budget preparation and monitoring, inventory management, and operational planning, ensuring that supply chain requirements are met efficiently. The role demands a strong client service mindset and the ability to resolve queries and support logistics operations management effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized support to logistics operations and activities, ensuring adherence to standard processes and contributing to the effective delivery of food and capacity strengthening assistance.
  • Coordinate requisitioning and ensure timely delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations.
  • Manage logistics vendors’ contracting activities, including performance monitoring and measurement.
  • Support the gathering of market intelligence and vendor assessments to aid in the vendor selection process.
  • Identify and resolve specialized queries or requests for support, ensuring timely and accurate resolution with a focus on excellent client service.
  • Prepare, monitor, and revise budgets for all delivery modalities, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and corporate standards.
  • Monitor inventory management processes to track trends and account for inventory status from source to beneficiary.
  • Support oversight for commodity accounting data quality and integrity.
  • Analyze operational pipelines and contribute to assessments and operational planning for all delivery modalities. 1
  • Manage documentation processing for logistics operations, including customs clearance and invoice verification, and resolve operational issues as necessary. 1
  • Conduct research, collect data, and produce reports to ensure information accuracy in corporate systems for informed decision-making. 1
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support logistics operations management. 1
  • Supervise support staff, providing guidance to ensure objectives are met to agreed standards and deadlines. 1
  • Support logistics emergency preparedness and response activities, including Logistics Capacity Assessment and Contingency Plan updates.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles, with proven experience in managing logistics operations. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves liaising with various stakeholders. A client-focused approach and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently are also required. Educational Background:

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in logistics and supply chain management, preferably within a humanitarian or international development context. Experience in managing logistics operations, vendor management, and budget preparation is highly desirable. Familiarity with emergency logistics and response operations is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of WFP. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions where WFP operates, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's competitiveness.
