Job Overview:
The role of the consultant is to provide high-quality technical assistance, advisory, and coordination support for the implementation of the Superstar Teachers in the Digital Age initiative. This multi-country, multi-year program aims to empower teachers with practical digital pedagogy resources, AI-enabled professional support, and evidence-based approaches to enhance inclusive teaching and learning. The consultant will play a crucial role in transitioning the initiative from concept to implementation, ensuring effective project coordination, engagement with Country Offices and external partners, and providing timely expert technical advice. The consultant will also oversee project management related to research partners and facilitate knowledge sharing from the initiative's implementation, contributing to the development and dissemination of global public goods. The consultant's responsibilities will include maintaining momentum across country engagement, research processes, and donor deliverables while ensuring alignment with the initiative's pedagogy-first approach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will support overall project management and coordination, provide technical advisory and implementation support, and coordinate with the research partner. Responsibilities also include documentation support, knowledge management, and sharing, as well as coordination across relevant internal UNICEF teams engaged in the implementation. The consultant will provide technical assistance and advisory support to other countries involved in the initiative, ensuring effective planning, implementation follow-up, and partner coordination throughout the program lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in education, education and technology, or another relevant technical field. Alternatively, a first degree combined with four years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree. A minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in education, particularly in digital education and supporting teacher professional development, is required. Candidates should have a blend of practical and theoretical experience at both national and international levels, with demonstrated experience in upskilling teachers around digital education.
Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in education, education and technology, or a related field is required. A first degree with additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in educational principles and practices, particularly in the context of digital learning and technology integration.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in the field of education, with a focus on digital education and the use of educational technology to enhance children's learning. Candidates should have experience supporting teacher professional development and upskilling in digital education, demonstrating both practical and theoretical knowledge at national and international levels.
Languages:
Fluency in English (both written and verbal) is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional UN languages such as French, Spanish, or Arabic is considered an asset. Candidates with multilingual capabilities are highly desirable, especially those who have experience working in multicultural environments.
