Job Overview: The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer position is crucial for supporting the Logistics Unit at the Pemba Area Office. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Logistics Officer, focusing on overseeing logistics operations at the Nacala Hub. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting information to enhance the efficiency of logistics operations. The Logistics Officer will contribute to the development of logistics plans and processes, ensuring compliance with WFP standards and policies. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including customs agents and port authorities, to ensure timely and cost-effective logistics operations. Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop logistics plans and processes in compliance with WFP policies.
Support logistics projects and daily operations to ensure effective food assistance delivery.
Collect and analyze data to recommend improvements for local logistics operations.
Liaise with customs and port authorities for efficient port operations.
Collaborate with logistics teams to implement cost-efficient storage and delivery of relief items.
Ensure compliance of stock movements with WFP corporate systems.
Conduct financial analysis and budget reviews to optimize fund usage.
Guide support staff and assist with queries.
Prepare accurate and timely reports on logistics activities. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with an additional two years of relevant work experience and/or training is acceptable. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of professional work experience in logistics or related fields, demonstrating the ability to coordinate service providers and manage logistics operations effectively. Experience with SAP or other integrated systems, as well as skills in report writing and proposal evaluation, are highly desirable.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business Management. A first university degree combined with additional years of relevant experience is also acceptable. Continuous professional development through training and courses related to logistics and supply chain management is encouraged and may be beneficial for candidates.
Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in logistics or supply chain management is required. Candidates should have experience coordinating service providers, managing supplier deliveries, and executing contracts. Familiarity with financial analysis and budget management is also essential. Experience in emergency logistics and the ability to work in high-pressure environments will be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a Service Contract (SC8) with a duty station in Nacala, Mozambique, and has a duration of six months.
