Job Overview:
The Team Leader position in Wadeye is a full-time, fixed-term role that runs until the end of June 202
  • The successful candidate will lead a team dedicated to delivering programs that support families and children with complex, high needs. This role is crucial in ensuring that the Play2Learn and Intensive Family Support programs are effectively implemented to create lasting change for children. The Team Leader will report to the Regional Manager and will be responsible for the operational management of program activities, budget oversight, and staff support. This position requires a strong commitment to assisting at-risk children and families, with a focus on therapeutic engagement and safety planning. The role also involves building effective networks with stakeholders to maximize positive outcomes for families and children, as well as prioritizing monitoring and evaluation of the programs to ensure their success.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Team Leader will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
  • Leading and managing the program team in Wadeye, ensuring high performance and a positive team culture.
  • Overseeing the operational running of program activities, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Managing the program budget and ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders to enhance program outcomes.
  • Providing regular coaching and professional supervision to team members to foster their development.
  • Ensuring that the programs adhere to safety planning and therapeutic engagement principles.
  • Traveling between Darwin and Wadeye as required, with accommodation provided in Wadeye.
  • Participating in the continuous improvement of program delivery and contributing to strategic planning initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Team Leader position must possess several key qualifications, including:
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a team and fostering a high-performing team culture.
  • Proven experience working with families in case management roles, particularly in diverse and disadvantaged communities, including remote Indigenous communities.
  • A willingness to travel between Darwin and Wadeye as part of the role.
  • A working knowledge of the Northern Territory Child Protection and Domestic Violence Systems.
  • A diploma level certification (minimum) in a relevant field, such as social work, psychology, or community services.
  • A current driver’s license and a Working with Children’s Card (or eligibility to apply).
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to nurture a cohesive team environment.
