Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at UN-Habitat China involves contributing to the Future Cities X initiative, which aims to create a platform for sustainable urban solutions in Southeast Asia. The selected volunteers will work closely with the communications team to design and produce a comprehensive brochure and logo for the initiative. This role requires creativity and technical skills in graphic design, as the materials produced will be used to promote the initiative to various stakeholders, including partners and governments. The volunteers will be responsible for the entire design process, from conceptualization to final output, ensuring that the materials align with UN-Habitat's branding guidelines. This position offers an opportunity to engage in meaningful work that supports sustainable urban development and fosters international collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be tasked with the following duties:

• Design and produce a 20-page brochure for both print and digital distribution, ensuring high-quality layout design and image processing.
• Develop an original logo concept that reflects the initiative's goals and values, delivering final scalable brand marks.
• Collaborate closely with the communications team to ensure that all materials meet the project's objectives and adhere to UN-Habitat's branding guidelines.
• Participate in virtual meetings as required to discuss project progress and receive feedback.
• Ensure that all produced materials remain the intellectual property of UN-Habitat China, following the organization's policies and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Online Volunteer position should possess the following qualifications:

• Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or equivalent tools.
• Strong understanding of design principles, including layout, typography, and color theory.
• Experience in producing marketing materials, brochures, or branding assets.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey design concepts and ideas.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred for this position. Candidates should have relevant coursework or training that demonstrates their design skills and understanding of branding principles. A portfolio showcasing previous design work is highly desirable to assess the candidate's capabilities.

Experience:
While prior experience in a similar role is beneficial, it is not strictly required. However, candidates should demonstrate a strong portfolio of design work that reflects their skills and creativity. Experience working on projects related to urban development, sustainability, or non-profit organizations may be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and materials will be produced in English. Knowledge of Mandarin or other languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset but is not required.
