The Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia (SOENEA), inaugurated on May 17, 2010, in Sondgo, Incheon, serves as a multilateral hub for six member countries: China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Republic of Korea, and the Russian Federation. Job Overview:
The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern position at the United Nations ESCAP offers a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful work that supports regional cooperation and sustainable development in North-East Asia. The intern will be involved in various communication-related tasks, including the design and production of visual materials, preparation of presentations, and support for social media content development. This role is crucial for enhancing the visibility of the organization's initiatives and ensuring effective communication of its goals and activities. The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, providing interns with hands-on experience in a professional UN environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the communication efforts of the SOENEA office. These include designing and producing event flyers, posters, factsheets, infographics, and other visual communication materials. Interns will also prepare PowerPoint presentations and other communication products, produce short promotional video clips and event highlights, and assist in the development of website and social media content. Additionally, interns will support photography, video editing, and multimedia production, ensuring that all materials align with the UN's visual identity guidelines. They will also assist in outreach and visibility activities related to meetings and regional forums, and perform other related duties as assigned by their supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). This ensures that candidates possess the necessary academic background to contribute effectively to the internship.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to have either completed or be currently enrolled in a graduate program or the final year of an undergraduate program. This educational requirement ensures that interns have a solid foundation in relevant fields, such as communications, media studies, or related disciplines, which will enable them to perform the tasks required effectively.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, any relevant experience in communications, graphic design, or multimedia production will be advantageous. Interns should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the fast-paced environment of the United Nations, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
