Job Overview:
The Supply and Logistics Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of affordable and high-quality supplies and services tailored to specific contexts while adhering to UNICEF's policies and ethical standards. The incumbent will support a Temporary Assignment and report to the Procurement Associate (GS6) within the operations section. This position is vital for managing procurement, in-country logistics, warehousing, inventory management, and implementing emergency supply plans. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, ensuring that UNICEF's operations run smoothly and effectively in various contexts, including emergencies and humanitarian settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supply and Logistics Assistant is responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to: assisting in procurement and contracting processes, managing in-country logistics, overseeing warehousing and inventory management, and implementing alternative delivery mechanisms and procurement services. The incumbent will also assist in the execution of emergency supply plans and procurement services, ensuring compliance with UNICEF's policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities may include coordinating with various stakeholders, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to the overall efficiency of supply chain operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management or a commercial context. Fluency in Spanish is required, along with an intermediate level of English. Desirable qualifications include relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, as well as an understanding of development and humanitarian work. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, or Russian) or a local language is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary education. However, candidates with secondary education supplemented by technical or university courses in Finance, Business Administration, International Relations, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or related fields will be preferred. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of supply chain operations and effectively contributing to UNICEF's mission.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management or a commercial context. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing logistics and procurement processes, demonstrating their ability to work effectively in various environments, including development and humanitarian settings. Experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders and managing inventory and warehousing operations is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication in Guatemala. An intermediate level of English is also required to facilitate communication within the organization and with international partners. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is considered advantageous and may enhance a candidate's profile.
