Goodness and Mercy Missions (GMM) is a non-profit organization established in 2007 with a mission to empower men, women, youths, and the disadvantaged by providing them with the necessary tools to improve their quality of life. The organization focuses on uplifting the oppressed, poor, and less privileged, enabling them to lead lives of meaning and worth. GMM operates various key programs, including women economic empowerment initiatives, child sponsorship, hassle-free education for underprivileged children, computer training, and youth livelihood projects. GMM is committed to community development and is currently expanding its operations to meet the growing demand for holistic support in Fundong, Cameroon.

Job Overview:
The Volunteer Fundraising and Community Development Coordinator will play a crucial role in helping Goodness and Mercy Missions lay the foundation for a transformative community hub in Fundong. The position involves working closely with the GMM leadership team to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aimed at securing the necessary funds to build a new Multipurpose Centre for Community Development. This centre will serve multiple purposes, including vocational training, literacy and early education, youth engagement, and environmental initiatives. The volunteer will be responsible for capacity building, strategic planning, and grant acquisition, ensuring that the vision for the community hub becomes a reality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy and plan to raise the target of 10 million francs CFA. This includes identifying creative crowdfunding ideas, digital campaigns, and community-led events that can be executed both globally and locally.
  • Conduct research to identify potential international funding sources, corporate sponsors, foundations, and grant-making bodies that align with GMM's mission of community development, education, and climate action.
  • Draft compelling project proposals and concept notes to secure funding.
  • Assist the GMM team in meticulously filling out and submitting grant applications to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Collaborate with the team on the design and conceptual planning of the Multipurpose Centre, ensuring it accommodates all proposed amenities efficiently.
  • Provide general organizational support by maintaining an adaptable, team-player mindset and assisting GMM with ad-hoc administrative, communication, or strategic tasks as they arise during the campaign.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong skills in fundraising, grant writing, and project management. They should have a proactive approach to problem-solving and be able to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as well as the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including community members, potential donors, and organizational partners. Familiarity with community development principles and practices is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, community development, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications in fundraising or grant writing will be given priority. A strong understanding of project management principles and experience in community engagement initiatives will also be beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in fundraising, grant writing, or community development projects. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in volunteer roles will be advantageous. The ability to demonstrate successful fundraising campaigns or grant applications will be a significant asset for applicants.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication for the organization. Knowledge of French is a plus, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders in Cameroon and beyond. Additional languages relevant to the local community may also be beneficial.

This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the contract is not specified. The role is expected to be full-time, with flexibility in hours to accommodate the needs of the organization and the community.
