The internship is hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), which is a regional development arm of the United Nations. Job Overview:
This internship is part of the Enterprise Solutions Service within the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS) at UNESCAP. The position is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days a week, totaling 35 hours. Interns will work under the supervision of a staff member in OICT/ESS, engaging in various tasks that align with their educational background and skills. Responsibilities may include writing Python code, utilizing AI services through APIs, deploying applications, and preparing documentation and demonstrations. This role is designed to provide interns with practical experience in a professional setting while contributing to the work of the United Nations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be involved in a range of activities, including but not limited to: writing Python code for various applications, using AI services via API to enhance functionality, utilizing Copilot Studio for development tasks, deploying and benchmarking applications to ensure performance standards, committing code to git for version control, participating in weekly sprint meetings to discuss progress and challenges, preparing documentation to support development processes, and preparing and demonstrating applications to an audience. The specific daily responsibilities will vary based on the intern's background and the needs of the team.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No prior work experience is required for this internship, but candidates should possess skills and knowledge that will benefit the United Nations during their internship. Interns should be able to write code in Python and use relevant software development tools such as git. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals, as well as the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or the final year of an undergraduate program. This educational background should ideally include coursework or training in computer science, software development, or a related field, equipping them with the necessary skills to perform the tasks required during the internship.

Experience:
No prior work experience is necessary to apply for this internship. However, candidates should have relevant training, education, or advanced coursework that would contribute to their effectiveness in the role. The internship is designed for individuals who are looking to gain practical experience in a professional environment, particularly within the context of the United Nations.

Languages:
