Job Posting Organization:
The UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a partnership that brings together a large network of banks, insurers, and investors to catalyze action across the financial system, aiming to deliver more sustainable global economies. Established in 1992, UNEP FI has been at the forefront of engaging the finance sector on sustainability issues for over 30 years. The initiative connects the United Nations with financial institutions worldwide to shape the sustainable finance agenda. With a secretariat based in Geneva, Switzerland, UNEP FI has more than 500 banks and insurers with assets exceeding US$170 trillion that are implementing its Principles for Responsible Banking and Principles for Sustainable Insurance. The organization helps financial institutions apply industry frameworks and develop practical guidance and tools to transition towards a sustainable and inclusive economy. UNEP FI also cultivates leadership and advances sustainable market practices while supporting the implementation of global programs across various regions, including Africa & the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America & the Caribbean, and North America.

Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position focuses on supporting the post-production and editing of an onboarding video package for UNEP FI. This role is crucial for enhancing the organization's institutional capacity, which in turn facilitates better onboarding and integration of new colleagues into the organization. The volunteer will work remotely and will be responsible for transforming raw footage provided by UNEP FI staff into polished, cohesive videos that effectively communicate the organization's mission and values. The videos will serve as essential tools for new staff, helping them understand the organization and their roles within it. The work directly contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in building partnerships (SDG 17) and advancing sustainability targets across the financial sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include:
  • Post-Production/Editing: Edit all raw footage into final, cohesive videos that align with UNEP FI's branding and messaging.
  • Branding: Integrate UNEP/UNEP FI branding elements, graphics, standard lower-thirds, and licensed or royalty-free background music into the videos.
  • Finalization: Manage the review process for the videos, ensuring that all feedback is incorporated and produce final, optimized video files suitable for web and intranet use.
  • Deliverables: The volunteer must deliver a completed, edited video package that includes: a. A main onboarding video featuring a welcome from the Head of UNEP FI and an organizational overview, lasting between 3 and 5 minutes. b. Five additional Program Lead videos, each providing in-depth coverage of specific work and team structure, lasting between 6 to 10 minutes each. c. An Administration video that offers an overview of essential IT, HR, and administrative matters for new staff, lasting between 3 to 4 minutes. d. The full set of all videos, all raw footage, and the final editable project files, such as those created in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Online Volunteer position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Proficiency in video editing software, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro, is essential.
  • Strong understanding of video production processes, including post-production and editing techniques.
  • Familiarity with branding and graphic integration in video content.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with UNEP FI staff and incorporate feedback into the video editing process.
  • A passion for sustainability and understanding of the financial sector's role in advancing sustainable practices is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates should ideally have a background in film production, video editing, communications, or a related field. While formal education is beneficial, practical experience in video editing and production is equally valuable. A portfolio showcasing previous video editing work will be an advantage during the selection process.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in video editing and post-production. This could include internships, volunteer work, or freelance projects that demonstrate the ability to edit videos effectively and manage the production process from start to finish. Experience working with organizations focused on sustainability or within the financial sector is a plus, as it will provide context for the content being produced.

Languages:
While there are no specific language requirements mentioned, proficiency in English is mandatory as it is the primary language of communication within UNEP FI. Additional language skills may be beneficial, particularly in languages relevant to the regions where UNEP FI operates, such as French or Spanish, but they are not explicitly required for this position.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position, allowing for flexible working hours. The duration of the contract is not specified, but the volunteer is expected to commit to completing the video package within a reasonable timeframe. This role is suitable for individuals looking to gain experience in video editing while contributing to a meaningful cause related to sustainability and finance. Compensation details are not provided, indicating that this is likely an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
