Job Overview: The Implementation Support Officer plays a crucial role in the execution of project activities at the field level. This position involves providing essential support for various tasks, including beneficiary registration, assessments, and coordination of activities. The officer will assist the sector officer in ensuring compliance with both DRC and donor processes, while also maintaining the quality of planning, implementation, and follow-up of Economic Recovery activities. The role requires a proactive approach to engage with targeted communities and ensure that project outputs are reported in a timely manner. The officer will follow established work plans and guidelines to facilitate effective project delivery, contributing to the overall mission of DRC in supporting displaced individuals and communities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Implementation Support Officer will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to:
Providing implementation support for project activities, ensuring that all tasks are carried out effectively and in accordance with established guidelines.
Conducting beneficiary identification and needs assessments to determine the specific requirements of the communities served.
Distributing relief assistance, whether in cash or in-kind, to eligible beneficiaries.
Carrying out administrative tasks such as preparing Purchase Requests (PRs), Purchase Orders (POs), service contracts, and financial reconciliations.
Engaging with targeted communities to foster relationships and gather feedback on project implementation.
Monitoring field-level activities to ensure compliance with project objectives and timelines.
Reporting outputs and escalating any issues encountered during program implementation to the relevant stakeholders.
Following work plans and guidelines to ensure that all activities align with DRC's operational standards and sector guidelines.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in humanitarian work, with at least 1 year of fieldwork experience, preferably in the west coast region. A solid understanding of the local context in Taiz and the west coast is essential. Applicants should demonstrate experience in adhering to standard procedures and guidelines, as well as familiarity with community dynamics, including knowledge of influential figures and community leaders. Proficiency in basic English and computer skills are advantageous, while fluency in the local accent is considered an asset.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a diploma and/or a high school degree. This educational background is essential to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge necessary to perform the duties associated with the role effectively.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 2 years of experience in humanitarian work, with a specific emphasis on at least 1 year of fieldwork experience. This experience should ideally be in a context similar to that of the west coast, allowing the candidate to navigate the complexities of the local environment and community effectively.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the targeted communities. Basic proficiency in English is preferred, enabling the officer to engage with international stakeholders and adhere to reporting requirements. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not required.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position is set to last until December 31, 2026, and it falls within the non-management (NMI) band. The role reports directly to the Economic Recovery Team Leader and is based in Khokha, Yemen. The start date for this position is as soon as possible. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
