Job Posting Organization: Enabling Rural Opportunity Network (ERONet) is a women-led community-based organization founded in Lamwo District, Northern Uganda. The organization focuses on improving the well-being of vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, and youth, in rural, post-conflict, and refugee-hosting communities. ERONet's mission is to empower these communities through various interventions aimed at strengthening girls' education, enhancing household livelihoods, and building community resilience and protection systems. The organization has ongoing initiatives that include girls' education sponsorship, household economic strengthening, and community-based resilience, and collaborates with local government and development partners to achieve its objectives.
Job Overview: The primary function of this position is to support ERONet in enhancing its institutional capacity by developing a professional, donor-ready organizational profile. This profile is essential for effectively communicating ERONet's work, impact, and strategic direction to potential donors, partners, and stakeholders. The volunteer will be tasked with reviewing existing documents, restructuring and rewriting the organizational profile, and ensuring that it aligns with ERONet's strategic focus areas. The goal is to create a compelling narrative that highlights key programs and partnerships, making it attractive to external audiences such as NGOs, UN agencies, and donors. The work will be conducted remotely, utilizing email communication and virtual meetings as necessary for clarification and feedback.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review existing ERONet documents, including the current organizational profile, strategic plan draft, reports, and website content.
Restructure and rewrite the organizational profile into a clear, concise, and compelling format, ideally spanning 2–3 pages.
Align the new profile with ERONet’s refined strategic focus areas, which include girls’ education, economic strengthening, and community resilience.
Highlight key programs, partnerships, and results in a manner that is appealing to potential donors and partners.
Ensure that the language used in the profile is professional, clear, and suitable for external audiences, including NGOs, UN agencies, and donors.
Incorporate storytelling elements and impact-oriented messaging to enhance engagement.
Participate in 1–2 virtual meetings for clarification and feedback, if needed.
Review drafts and finalize the organizational profile based on feedback from ERONet.
Required Qualifications:
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
Experience in developing organizational profiles, proposals, or similar documents for NGOs or community-based organizations.
Familiarity with the nonprofit sector, particularly in areas related to education, economic development, and community resilience.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in using digital communication tools for collaboration and document sharing.
Educational Background: A background in communications, nonprofit management, international development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant experience in writing and organizational development will be highly regarded, regardless of formal educational qualifications.
Experience: The position requires a volunteer with prior experience in writing and developing organizational profiles or similar documents, particularly within the nonprofit sector. Experience working with community-based organizations or in contexts similar to ERONet's focus areas will be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as the organizational profile must be developed in English. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in Uganda or the region may be considered a plus but is not required.
Additional Notes: This is a remote volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment is not specified. The role is suitable for individuals looking to contribute to a meaningful cause while gaining experience in organizational development and nonprofit communications. The position is part-time and flexible, allowing volunteers to work according to their schedules.
