Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
Enabling Rural Opportunity Network (ERONet) is a women-led community-based organization that was formerly known as Agoro Community Development Association (ACDA). Founded and operating in Lamwo District, Northern Uganda, ERONet focuses on working with rural, post-conflict, and refugee-hosting communities. The organization is dedicated to improving the well-being of vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, and youth. ERONet's mission is to empower these rural communities through various interventions aimed at strengthening girls' education, enhancing household livelihoods, and improving community resilience and protection systems. The organization has ongoing initiatives that include girls' education sponsorship, household economic strengthening, and community-based resilience, and collaborates closely with local government and development partners to achieve its goals.

Job Overview:
The primary function of this position is to support ERONet in strengthening its institutional capacity by developing a professional, donor-ready organizational profile. This profile is essential for effectively communicating ERONet's work, impact, and strategic direction to potential donors, partners, and stakeholders. The volunteer will be tasked with reviewing existing documents, restructuring and rewriting the organizational profile into a clear and compelling format, and aligning it with ERONet's strategic focus areas. The role requires the volunteer to highlight key programs, partnerships, and results in a manner that is attractive to donors and partners, ensuring that the language used is professional and suitable for external audiences such as NGOs, UN agencies, and donors. The assignment will be conducted remotely, involving email communication, document sharing, and possibly 1-2 virtual meetings for clarification and feedback.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
  • Reviewing existing ERONet documents such as the current organizational profile, strategic plan draft, reports, and website content.
  • Restructuring and rewriting the organizational profile to create a clear, concise, and compelling document that spans 2-3 pages.
  • Aligning the profile with ERONet’s refined strategic focus areas, which include girls’ education, economic strengthening, and community resilience.
  • Highlighting key programs, partnerships, and results in a way that appeals to potential donors and partners.
  • Ensuring that the language used in the profile is professional, clear, and appropriate for external audiences, including NGOs, UN agencies, and donors.
  • Incorporating storytelling elements and impact-oriented messaging to enhance the profile's effectiveness.
  • Participating in 1-2 virtual meetings, if necessary, for clarification and feedback during the drafting process.
  • Reviewing drafts and finalizing the document based on feedback from ERONet to ensure the final deliverable is a well-structured, donor-friendly organizational profile ready for use in partnerships and fundraising efforts.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong writing and communication skills, particularly in the context of developing organizational profiles or similar documents. They should have experience in nonprofit or community-based organizations, with a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by such entities. Familiarity with the themes of girls' education, economic strengthening, and community resilience is highly desirable. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines while producing high-quality work. Additionally, proficiency in document formatting and presentation is important to ensure the final profile is visually appealing and professionally presented.

Educational Background:
Candidates should ideally have a background in communications, nonprofit management, international development, or a related field. A degree in one of these areas or equivalent experience in organizational development or capacity building will be beneficial for this role. Knowledge of the specific context of Uganda, particularly in relation to rural and post-conflict communities, will also be an asset.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in writing and developing organizational profiles, proposals, or similar documents for nonprofit organizations. Experience working with or within community-based organizations, particularly in a rural or post-conflict context, is highly advantageous. The volunteer should be comfortable working remotely and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality work within specified timelines.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as the organizational profile will be developed in English. Additional language skills relevant to the local context in Uganda may be considered a plus, but are not required for this role.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment is not specified. The role is suitable for individuals looking to contribute to a meaningful cause while gaining experience in organizational development and capacity building within a community-based context. There are no specific notes regarding compensation, as this is a volunteer role.
