Job Overview: The National Energy Efficiency Expert will be responsible for delivering a range of outputs aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in Liberia. This position involves providing tailored guidance for the implementation of various project activities and the development of relevant products. The expert will be expected to revise and input into project documents, ensuring that they align with national requirements and incorporate local insights. A significant aspect of the role includes maintaining effective communication and collaboration with local stakeholders, including government officials and national institutions, to ensure their active participation in the project. The expert will also be tasked with gathering data and technical documentation necessary for market and policy assessments, as well as preparing and delivering workshops, trainings, and events related to the project. The role requires active participation in project Policy Working Groups and ensuring timely endorsement of project outputs by local counterparts, all while adhering to the project timeline. The expert will also be responsible for developing progress reports and other documentation as required by the UNEP-U4E programme officer.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National Energy Efficiency Expert include:
Providing tailored guidance for the implementation of project activities and development of products.
Inputting and revising project documents, including technical reports and training materials, to ensure alignment with national requirements.
Maintaining communication with local stakeholders to ensure their engagement in the project.
Gathering data and technical documentation from Liberia for market and policy assessments.
Collecting market information and inputs from national sources to tailor recommendations to local needs.
Preparing and delivering workshops, trainings, and events related to the project.
Following up with government representatives for timely endorsement of project outputs.
Actively participating in project Policy Working Groups and related meetings.
Developing progress reports and other documentation as required. 1
Performing other duties related to the project as requested by the UNEP-U4E programme officer.
Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications:
An advanced university degree (Masters) in Engineering, Business, or a relevant scientific or technical discipline.
Proven experience and understanding of the policy, technical, and regulatory aspects of energy efficiency and/or cooling in Liberia.
Experience in coordinating events, workshops, and trainings, and working with multicultural teams.
Technical knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly Refrigerators and Room Air Conditioners, and energy efficiency for cooling appliances is an asset.
Familiarity with Liberia's national institutions and government officials, as well as private sector stakeholders.
Experience working in Liberia and other ECOWAS countries.
Ability to analyze and integrate diverse information from various sources to produce high-quality communication and technical presentations.
Availability and commitment to perform tasks as required. 1

Educational Background: Candidates must possess a minimum of an advanced university degree (Masters) in Engineering, Business, or a relevant scientific or technical discipline. Experience: The position requires proven experience in the field of energy efficiency and/or cooling, particularly within the context of Liberia. Experience in coordinating events, workshops, and trainings is essential, as is the ability to work effectively with multicultural teams. Familiarity with market data collection and analysis is also beneficial, as is experience working with national institutions and government officials in Liberia and other ECOWAS countries.
Languages: Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. This proficiency is crucial for effective communication with stakeholders, preparation of documentation, and delivery of training and workshops.
