Job Overview:
The Education Officer position at UNICEF involves supporting the development and preparation of education programs, managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on education projects within the country program. The role requires providing technical input and administrative support to facilitate the achievement of results on education programs aimed at improving learning outcomes and promoting equitable and inclusive education, particularly for socio-economically disadvantaged children. The officer will work closely with the Education Specialist and will be responsible for employing differentiated strategies to enhance education programming, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's Strategic Plans and accountability frameworks. This position is crucial for driving impactful results in education and requires a proactive approach to networking, partnership building, and knowledge management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key functions of the Education Officer include:
  • Supporting program development and planning by contributing to the design and implementation of education programs.
  • Managing program delivery by monitoring progress and ensuring results are achieved according to established plans.
  • Providing technical and operational support for effective program implementation, ensuring adherence to UNICEF standards.
  • Building networks and partnerships with stakeholders to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
  • Engaging in innovation and knowledge management to improve educational practices and capacity building within the organization and among partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in education, psychology, economics, or a relevant technical field. They should have a minimum of two years of professional experience in education program planning, management, or research. Experience in translating education analytical evidence into policy dialogue and advocacy is essential, along with proven skills in drafting high-quality education analytical papers, policy briefs, and reports. Candidates should also have experience in influencing education priorities with government entities and working on convergent approaches across sectors such as Social Policy, Child Protection, Nutrition, Health, and WASH.

Educational Background:
A university degree in education, psychology, economics, or another relevant technical field is required for this position. The educational qualifications must be obtained from an institution accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in education program planning, management, or research. Candidates should have experience in supporting the translation of analytical evidence into policy dialogue and advocacy, as well as experience in drafting high-quality documents related to education programs.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for the role.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Lucknow, India, and is open to Indian Nationals or candidates with a valid work permit for India. The selected applicant will receive an initial one-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
