Job Overview:
The Community Mobilization Project Clerk will play a crucial role in supporting community engagement activities and facilitating participatory processes for the 2025 Mayors Challenge project in Beira, Mozambique. This project aims to implement an integrated model of productive relocation and climate resilience, specifically focusing on relocating vulnerable coastal families while strengthening the fish value chain and promoting inclusive economic development. The Clerk will assist in organizing community meetings, consultations, and awareness activities, ensuring effective communication with local stakeholders and contributing to the overall success of the project. This position requires a proactive approach to community mobilization and a commitment to enhancing the lives of local residents through sustainable development initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Project Analyst, the Community Mobilization Project Clerk will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Support community mobilization activities by organizing community meetings, consultations, and participatory sessions; facilitating communication with community leaders, local associations, and other stakeholders; and mobilizing participants for project activities.
  • Assist in the project's communication and coordination by organizing meetings between communities and the project technical team, supporting day-to-day communication related to community activities, and following up with local stakeholders.
  • Document community participation processes, including attendance lists and meeting minutes, and contribute to technical and narrative project reports, particularly regarding social and community engagement components.
  • Monitor community feedback and perceptions regarding project interventions and contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Community Mobilization Project Clerk position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Secondary education is required; a university degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, or Development Studies will be given due consideration.
  • Demonstrated ability to support community meetings and participatory activities, with experience in community mobilization and outreach methods.
  • Proven ability to maintain records and documentation of field activities and prepare simple summaries and activity notes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential.
  • Experience working with urban communities, informal settlements, or vulnerable groups is an asset, as is experience in development projects or NGO/UN programmes.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education as a minimum requirement. A university degree (bachelor's degree) in relevant fields such as Community Development, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, or Development Studies is preferred but not mandatory. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding community dynamics and development processes.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience with a secondary education or one year of experience with a bachelor's degree. Relevant experience includes community mobilization, outreach, social participation, stakeholder engagement, and field support in development projects. Experience working with communities, vulnerable groups, or local associations is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese and English is required for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication with local communities and stakeholders, as well as for documentation and reporting purposes. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
