Job Overview: The position of Online Volunteer for the FCAO2025 report layout involves working closely with the UN-Habitat programme team and the communications team to produce a professionally designed layout for the French version of the Future Cities Advisory Outlook: AI and Cities (FCAO2025) report. This report is a critical document that analyzes the impact of artificial intelligence on urban development and aims to promote urban prosperity while addressing the digital divide. The role requires collaboration and communication with team members to ensure that the layout meets the established design guidelines and effectively conveys the report's findings. The volunteers will be responsible for adapting the existing layout from the Chinese version to the French version, ensuring that it is accessible and inclusive for a multilingual audience. This assignment is part of a larger initiative to launch the report at the 13th World Urban Forum in Azerbaijan, highlighting the importance of AI in sustainable urban development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Online Volunteers will have several key responsibilities, including:
Supporting the production of the updated layout for the French version of the FCAO2025 report, ensuring it aligns with the requirements set by the UN-Habitat team.
Collaborating with the communications team to make necessary edits and adjustments based on discussions and feedback.
Following corporate design guidelines provided by UN-Habitat to ensure consistency and professionalism in the report's layout.
Engaging in regular communication with team members to clarify expectations and provide updates on progress.
Contributing to the overall design process by offering creative input and suggestions that enhance the report's visual appeal and effectiveness.

Candidates should have relevant training or coursework that demonstrates their proficiency in design principles and software. A degree or certification in design or a related discipline would be advantageous but is not strictly required if the candidate can demonstrate sufficient experience and skills.
Experience: While specific years of experience are not mandated, candidates should have a proven track record of working on design projects, particularly in producing layouts for reports or publications. Experience in a volunteer capacity or within a non-profit organization may be beneficial, especially if it involves collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as the primary task involves producing the French version of the FCAO2025 report. Proficiency in English is also highly desirable, as it may be necessary for communication with the UN-Habitat team and understanding the original content of the report. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those of the UN's six official languages, would be considered an asset.
