Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer Monitoring and Evaluation Officers will play a crucial role in the IAVE–IBM Reskilling Revolution Africa (RRA) – SkillsBuild Project, which is a multi-country initiative aimed at equipping young people with essential digital and professional skills. This project targets over 35,000 learners across Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Africa, with a specific focus on gender inclusion and reaching 15,000 youth in five counties in Kenya. The role involves supporting the implementation of a robust Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework to track learner progress, assess project performance, and demonstrate impact to stakeholders. Volunteers will be responsible for data collection, analysis, and reporting, working closely with facilitators and project coordinators to ensure the project meets its learning and employability outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Monitoring and Evaluation volunteers include:
  • Supporting the implementation of the project’s M&E framework and indicators.
  • Tracking learner enrollment, participation, course completion, and digital badge attainment.
  • Collecting and organizing quantitative and qualitative data from facilitators and learners.
  • Assisting in the design and administration of surveys and feedback tools.
  • Cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing data using basic M&E tools such as Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Producing weekly or monthly progress summaries and dashboards.
  • Supporting gender and inclusion tracking, including disaggregation by sex, location, and learner category.
  • Documenting success stories, lessons learned, and emerging challenges.
  • Contributing to learning reviews and continuous project improvement. 1
  • Ensuring data accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical use of information.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the position include a strong understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation principles and practices, proficiency in data collection and analysis, and familiarity with basic M&E tools such as Excel and Google Sheets. Volunteers should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Additionally, a commitment to ethical data handling and confidentiality is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates for the Online Volunteer Monitoring and Evaluation Officers position should ideally have a background in social sciences, statistics, or a related field. A degree or coursework in Monitoring and Evaluation, data analysis, or project management would be advantageous. Relevant training or certifications in M&E practices would also be beneficial.

Experience:
