Job Overview: The position of Investment Officer is situated within the Infrastructure and Energy Division (IEN) of IDB Invest, which leads the development and delivery of operations in transport, water and sanitation, energy, and social infrastructure across all regions. The officer will support the structuring, negotiation, approval, and closing of infrastructure projects in the sectors covered by the Infrastructure & Energy Division throughout the assigned region. The role involves deal origination and execution, collaboration with cross-functional teams, analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and modeling, client presentations and communication, market research and industry analysis, project management, continuous learning and development, and relationship building. The officer will work closely with senior team members and various departments to ensure seamless execution of transactions and contribute to the overall mission of IDB Invest.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Investment Officer will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties including: supporting senior team members in identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities; assisting in the due diligence process through thorough research and analysis; contributing to the preparation and review of transaction documents; collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with environmental, social, and corporate governance safeguards; conducting in-depth financial analysis and maintaining complex financial models; preparing client presentations and engaging in client interactions; staying updated on market trends and conducting thorough research on specific sectors; managing multiple tasks and deadlines associated with various projects; proactively seeking opportunities for professional development; and cultivating strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor's or equivalent degree with a specialization in finance, accounting, business administration, or economics. A Master's degree or MBA is considered a plus. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of relevant professional experience in analysis and loan origination, structuring complex structured finance transactions, or financial analysis. A validated track record of working with a broad range of financial instruments and products, including equity and mezzanine, is essential. Strong client relationship experience and skills are highly valued, along with expertise in understanding client needs and challenges, market idiosyncrasies, and drivers of change in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes at least a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or economics. A Master's degree or MBA will be considered advantageous, as it demonstrates a higher level of expertise and understanding of complex financial concepts and practices.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience. This experience should encompass analysis and loan origination, structuring complex structured finance transactions, or financial analysis. Candidates should have a validated track record of working with a broad range of financial instruments and products, including equity and mezzanine financing. Experience in a similar role within an investment or advisory firm, bank, or infrastructure company is desirable, as is strong client relationship experience.
Languages: Proficiency in both Spanish and English, spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. This bilingual requirement is essential for effective communication with clients and stakeholders across the region. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The position is offered as a national staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
