Job Overview: The Associate Medical Movement Operations Officer position is a vital role within the Department of Operations and Emergencies (DOE) at IOM, specifically within the Resettlement and Movement Division (RMM). This position is responsible for overseeing medical movement operations and clinical consultation services in the United States. The officer will work under the general supervision of the Senior Operations Officer (USRAP) and in close coordination with the Senior Migration Health Advisor. The primary functions of this role include managing medical information packages for severe medical cases, ensuring compliance with IOM Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and coordinating travel arrangements for medical escorts. The officer will also be responsible for liaising with resettlement agencies and health service providers to facilitate the smooth transition of refugees requiring medical assistance. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure the health and safety of refugees during their resettlement process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive and validate medical information packages for severe medical cases and share reports with resettlement agencies to organize handover and post-arrival services.
Utilize IOM Information systems (MiMOSA and RMI) to process and track medical movements and travel requirements.
Collaborate with the National Medical Movement Operations Officer and Senior Migration Health Advisor to discuss upcoming medical movements and review travel plans for medical escorts.
Ensure all medical reports are valid and comply with IOM SOPs, reporting any data inconsistencies.
Coordinate international and domestic bookings for medical cases, ensuring compliance with IOM SOPs.
Monitor special travel arrangements and costs, focusing on mobility needs and medical requirements.
Follow up with Resettlement Agencies on post-arrival hospitalization requirements and facilitate communication between overseas and domestic case managers.
Assist refugees requiring emergency health care and manage medical bills and documentation for Medicare/Medicaid.
Track IOM medical movements and collect feedback on escort services. 1
Create medical incident reports and contribute to the development of IOM U.S. Operations SOPs. 1
Participate in testing IOM Information systems related to medical case movements. 1
Serve as the focal point for IOM USRAP medical movements, responding to inquiries. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Medicine from an accredited institution, along with at least three years of relevant professional experience. Experience in medical movement coordination and liaising with resettlement partners and health service providers is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under time constraints. Familiarity with IOM's administrative and financial practices is an advantage, as is prior experience in movement operations or transportation management. The ability to work harmoniously in a diverse, multicultural environment is essential, as is the capacity to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
Educational Background: A university degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution is required for this position. Additional Notes: This position is a one-year fixed-term contract with a monthly salary of USD 9,194.5
The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
