Job Overview: The UN University Volunteer position is designed to support the Youth Empowerment Portfolio in Asia-Pacific (YEP-AP), which aims to engage youth in addressing pressing challenges such as climate change, economic crises, and social inequalities. The volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist – Civil Society and Youth, contributing to the facilitation of youth training workshops within the Skills & Employability pillar of the Youth Moonshot 2030 initiative. This role involves organizing training sessions on essential skills such as digital, green, and soft skills, as well as entrepreneurship and employability. The volunteer will also assist in developing content for knowledge exchange among youth networks and provide mentorship support to youth and youth organizations. Additionally, the volunteer will engage with UNDP’s network of educational institutions to implement network-building activities and consolidate best practices. This position is crucial for empowering young people to become active participants in their communities and drive sustainable development initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the UN University Volunteer include:
Assisting in facilitating youth training workshops by organizing sessions focused on digital, green, and soft skills, entrepreneurship, employability, and green jobs.
Supporting UNDP Country Offices in implementing Skills & Employability activities and developing content for knowledge exchange among youth networks.
Providing mentorship support to youth and youth organizations.
Supporting data entry, collection, analysis, and visualization related to youth activities.
Developing communication materials to engage external partners.
Engaging with UNDP’s network of educational institutions by implementing network-building activities, sharing opportunities, and conducting needs assessments.
Consolidating best practices of UNDP’s collaboration with educational institutions at both regional and national levels.
Supporting data entry, collection, analysis, and visualization of members’ Youth Moonshot activities.
Participating in ongoing reflection activities and contributing articles or write-ups on field experiences for UNV publications. 1
Assisting with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers and promoting online volunteering.
