Job Overview:

This role involves managing a multidisciplinary team focused on content, digital, and campaigns, while collaborating closely with program, policy, and external affairs teams. You will need to possess a deep understanding of Africa's diverse media landscape and political economy, as well as the ability to navigate complex communications challenges. Your experience in leading innovative campaigns and engagement strategies will be crucial in enhancing the foundation's brand and influence across Africa. This position requires a collaborative mindset and the ability to inspire and align teams towards common goals, ensuring that communications efforts resonate with local audiences and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include managing and mentoring a high-performing team, leading Africa-wide storytelling and campaigns that showcase the foundation's impact, overseeing regional content and campaign functions, and strengthening the foundation's brand and media presence. You will be tasked with driving innovation through data-informed engagement strategies, collaborating across the foundation to ensure consistent messaging, and advising senior leaders on communications strategies. Additionally, you will be responsible for building relationships with journalists and partners to amplify African voices and achievements, ensuring that all communications are culturally authentic and relevant.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in a relevant field such as communications, marketing, journalism, or economics. A minimum of 12-15 years of senior-level experience in strategic communications, marketing, brand, and digital strategy is required, ideally with experience across multiple African contexts. A deep understanding of African media landscapes, campaign ecosystems, and audience engagement is essential, along with a proven track record of leading integrated campaigns that achieve measurable impact. Strong leadership skills, exceptional storytelling abilities, and experience in managing diverse teams are also critical for this role.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in communications, marketing, journalism, economics, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of communications strategies and the political economy of Africa.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 12-15 years of senior-level experience in strategic communications, marketing, brand, and digital strategy. This experience should ideally span multiple African contexts, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex organizational structures and align diverse stakeholders towards common goals. A history of leading successful campaigns and managing high-performing teams is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with superior written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in French is highly desirable, as it will enhance the ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders across the continent.
