The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT) is a regional institute established on June 16, 2006, in Incheon, Republic of Korea. It operates under the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The Centre's mission is to enhance the human and institutional capacities of member states and associate members of ESCAP in utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to achieve socio-economic development goals. APCICT focuses on three main pillars: training, advisory services, and fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships. The Centre also offers e-learning courses through an online platform, providing self-paced learning modules based on its capacity-building programmes, including the Academy and WIFI. APCICT is dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations through ICT training and resources, thereby contributing to sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Job Overview:
The Programme Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of APCICT programmes and activities. This position involves compiling and organizing programme-related information, which includes details about participants, partners, and the outputs of various activities. The Programme Assistant will also assist in preparing programme materials, reports, and presentations, ensuring that all documentation is clear and accessible. Additionally, the role requires providing translation or summaries of documents and correspondence to facilitate effective communication with stakeholders in the Republic of Korea. The Programme Assistant will be integral in maintaining an internal data repository for programme records, ensuring that all data is accurate, complete, and well-organized. This position also includes responsibilities related to communication and content support, such as updating website content and managing social media platforms. The Programme Assistant will conduct background research to support programme development and reporting, and will be expected to provide general administrative and coordination support as needed throughout the contract period.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Assistant include:
  • Assisting in the implementation of APCICT programmes and activities.
  • Compiling and organizing programme-related information, including details about participants, partners, and activity outputs.
  • Supporting the preparation of programme materials, reports, and presentations.
  • Providing translation or summaries of documents and correspondence as required.
  • Maintaining and regularly updating an internal data repository for programme records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Supporting data compilation for reporting and monitoring purposes.
  • Assisting in updating website content, including news, events, and programme information.
  • Supporting the maintenance of APCICT’s social media platforms by preparing and posting content.
  • Preparing basic summaries of social media performance as required. 1
  • Conducting background research and information searches to support programme development and reporting. 1
  • Collecting and organizing reference materials and data. 1
  • Preparing brief summaries, tables, or inputs for programme and communication materials. 1
  • Providing general administrative and coordination support as required. 1
  • Completing ad hoc tasks and assignments as requested by the supervisor throughout the contract period.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Programme Assistant position include a university degree in public policy, international development, business or public administration, communications, economics, or a related field. Relevant experience in research, programme or project administration, communications, or a related area is essential. Candidates should have experience in supporting programme implementation, including coordination with stakeholders and partners. Experience in supporting ICT for development programmes is considered an asset, as it aligns with the Centre's focus on enhancing ICT capabilities for socio-economic development.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as public policy, international development, business or public administration, communications, economics, or a related area. Experience:
The position requires relevant experience in research, programme or project administration, communications, or a related area. Languages:
Excellent written and spoken proficiency in English and Korean is required for this position.
