Job Overview: The Supply Chain Officer position at WFP is crucial for ensuring the effective management of supply chain operations, particularly in the context of humanitarian assistance. The officer will be responsible for analyzing and contributing to supply chain activities, planning, and coordinating operations to meet the food assistance needs of beneficiaries. This role requires a strategic approach to supply chain management, ensuring that operations are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with WFP's global supply chain strategy. The officer will work closely with various stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and private sector partners, to enhance the effectiveness of supply chain operations and improve service delivery. The position also emphasizes the importance of building partnerships and maintaining productive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate a coordinated and efficient supply chain.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Supply Chain Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Contributing to the development and implementation of supply chain plans and procedures in line with WFP's global strategy.
Conducting thorough analyses of regional and country contexts to support operational supply chain management.
Planning and executing supply chain operations and initiatives to ensure a rapid and integrated response to food assistance needs.
Performing detailed financial analyses and budget reviews to optimize resource utilization and operational efficiency.
Establishing and maintaining productive partnerships with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs, and the private sector to enhance supply chain coordination.
Providing technical contributions to market analysis and supply chain mapping to inform operational decisions.
Supporting the management of supply chain operations, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
Monitoring supply chain activities to ensure adherence to internal controls and enhance overall operational efficiency.
Preparing comprehensive reports and dashboards on supply chain activities to support informed decision-making. 1
Guiding and supervising staff, providing training and support for complex analyses and queries. 1
Contributing to emergency preparedness actions and supporting rapid response interventions during crises. 1
Performing any other duties as required by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, procurement, or related fields. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, and a commitment to WFP's mission and values. Proficiency in supply chain management principles and practices is essential, along with a solid understanding of humanitarian operations and logistics.
Educational Background: A Master's degree is preferred, particularly in fields related to supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or procurement. A strong educational background in these areas will provide the necessary foundation for the complex tasks associated with the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in supply chain management. This experience should include coordinating supply chain activities with various teams, conducting analytical work to support strategy implementation, and managing end-to-end supply chain operations. Experience working with WFP partners and supervising staff is also highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, with at least a medium level of proficiency in English being advantageous. Strong communication skills in both languages will facilitate effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
