Job Overview:
The UNHCR Support Officer position is designed to support the organization's activities within the Area of Responsibility (AoR) by engaging in various operational tasks and providing analytical insights into the situations faced by forcibly displaced and stateless individuals. The officer will be responsible for staying informed about developments that may impact these populations and will be expected to produce regular reports and analyses based on field reports and external contacts. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying gaps in protection and assistance, as well as formulating recommendations for action to enhance the effectiveness of UNHCR's programs. The officer will also play a crucial role in liaising with other UN agencies and NGOs to ensure coordinated efforts in addressing the needs of displaced persons.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UNHCR Support Officer include:
  • Supporting UNHCR's operations within the AoR, including potential missions to relevant countries.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the situation of forcibly displaced and stateless people, providing timely and relevant information.
  • Analyzing operational contexts and early warning signs through a network of external contacts and field reports.
  • Preparing analytical papers and formulating actionable recommendations for country offices.
  • Ensuring compliance with UNHCR's project implementation and reporting standards.
  • Identifying gaps and recommending solutions for efficient program activities.
  • Responding to queries from the field and coordinating with relevant focal points.
  • Conducting needs assessments and monitoring project implementation in the field.
  • Maintaining relationships with UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders. 1
  • Providing administrative support for program activities, including financial transactions and procurement actions. 1
