Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer position is crucial for the effective management of supply chain operations in the field. The role involves providing analytical support and contributing to supply chain activities, ensuring that food assistance reaches beneficiaries efficiently. The officer will work closely with logistics teams and report directly to the supply chain manager. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to analyze data to optimize logistics operations. The Logistics Officer will be responsible for developing strategies that align with WFP policies and procedures, ensuring that logistics operations are integrated and effective. The role also includes maintaining communication with various stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations and enhance the overall effectiveness of the supply chain.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: collecting, analyzing, and communicating information to optimize logistics operations; establishing reports for all non-food and food products expected via land transport, detailing the location and status of shipments; defining logistics strategies in accordance with WFP policies; developing and maintaining tracking tools for upstream corridor activities; ensuring the proper functioning of accounting, reporting, and internal control systems; evaluating offers from freight forwarders and preparing documentation for local procurement committees; implementing optimal cargo allocation mechanisms; ensuring accuracy in reporting and strengthening internal control systems; mentoring staff as needed; performing any other related tasks assigned; analyzing upstream corridor data for the country and sharing insights with functional units and management to aid decision-making; optimizing the use of WFP information systems for better analysis and reporting; ensuring timely customs clearance and tracking of all WFP non-food and food products; and developing strong partnerships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree in transportation economics, supply chain management, logistics, engineering, business management, or a related field. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree complemented by several years of relevant professional experience or training may be acceptable. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of logistics and supply chain processes, as well as experience in the humanitarian sector. Knowledge of customs procedures and regulations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is highly desirable, along with excellent negotiation skills and familiarity with international trade terms and processes.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree in a relevant field such as transportation economics, supply chain management, logistics, engineering, or business management is required. Candidates with a bachelor's degree and extensive relevant experience may also be considered. Continuous professional development and training in logistics and supply chain management are advantageous and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of professional experience, with at least one year post-graduation in a logistics-related role. Experience in managing supply chain operations, particularly in a humanitarian context, is preferred. Familiarity with customs regulations and procedures in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is a plus, as is experience working with customs agents and stakeholders in the region.

Languages:
Proficiency in French (level B) and English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and partners in the field.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as a CST 1 contract and is expected to last for 11 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and organizational needs. The role is based in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and may require travel to various field locations.
