Established with the mission to implement educational and developmental programs, APWCR operates primarily in the United States and Africa. The organization aims to empower communities through advocacy and research, ensuring that the rights of marginalized individuals are upheld. APWCR is committed to fostering gender justice and providing support to those in need, particularly in Nigeria, where they focus on community-based projects.

Job Overview:
The role of the online volunteer is crucial for APWCR as it seeks to enhance its funding capabilities through effective grant research and proposal writing. The volunteer will be responsible for identifying potential funding opportunities from various sources, including government bodies, UN agencies, foundations, and NGOs that align with APWCR's mission. This position requires the volunteer to draft at least four customized grant proposals and concept notes, utilizing project briefs and organizational data. The volunteer will collaborate closely with the Programs Officer, ensuring that the proposals are tailored to meet the specific requirements of the funding bodies. The communication will primarily take place through email and virtual meetings, allowing for flexibility and timely feedback throughout the process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify and compile a comprehensive list of relevant funding opportunities and calls for proposals from various sources, including government agencies, UN organizations, foundations, and NGOs.
  • Draft at least four customized grant proposals and concept notes based on project briefs and organizational data.
  • Prepare supporting documents such as budgets, cover letters, and organizational profiles to accompany grant proposals.
  • Collaborate with APWCR’s Programs Officer to ensure that proposals meet the necessary criteria and are aligned with the organization's mission.
  • Participate in virtual meetings and communicate effectively via email to receive guidance and feedback on proposal drafts.
  • Maintain organized records of funding opportunities and proposal submissions for future reference.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong research skills to identify relevant funding opportunities.
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and compelling grant proposals.
  • Familiarity with grant writing processes and requirements of various funding bodies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, international development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with experience in grant writing or fundraising will be given priority. A degree or relevant coursework in these areas will be beneficial for understanding the context of the proposals being drafted.

Experience:
Previous experience in grant research and proposal writing is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully securing funding through grant proposals. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in the field of human rights advocacy will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communication and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in Nigeria may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the contract is flexible based on the availability of the volunteer and the needs of APWCR. The role is remote, allowing volunteers to work from anywhere while contributing to meaningful projects that support vulnerable communities. APWCR is open to international volunteers who are passionate about human rights and community development.
