Job Overview: The position of Junior Communication Officer is an unpaid internship within the ITU, specifically under the Partner2Connect (P2C) Digital Coalition. The intern will support the Coalition’s overall communication activities, which aim to mobilize resources, partnerships, and commitments for universal connectivity and sustainabledigital transformation. The intern will work under the supervision of the P2C Project Officer and will be responsible for preparing communication and marketing materials, creating social media content, producing analysis and reports, assisting with pledge mobilization, maintaining the P2C website, organizing events, and supporting the P2C community database. This role is crucial for promoting the Coalition's initiatives and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Junior Communication Officer intern will have a variety of responsibilities, including:
Preparing and producing communication and marketing materials such as the P2C Flash and P2C Newsletter to promote the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition.
Creating engaging content for social media platforms on a weekly basis, including social media cards, captions, and GIFs.
Producing analysis, statistics, evaluation charts, and status reports related to the P2C Community to track progress and engagement.
Assisting the Secretariat with pledge mobilization and reporting efforts, which includes drafting inputs for management briefings.
Contributing to the maintenance and regular updates of the P2C website to ensure information is current and accessible.
Assisting in the organization and execution of periodic and ad-hoc events to promote the Coalition's objectives.
Supporting the maintenance of the P2C community database to facilitate communication and engagement with stakeholders.
Supporting other activities of the P2C Secretariat as required, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to take on various tasks.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in communication or a related field, which will be favorably considered during the selection process. Additionally, experience in communications, community management, social media promotion, conducting research, and preparing publications will be taken into account. Advanced proficiency in IT tools and a strong interest in the ICT sector are also valued. Previous experience in database management, content creation, promotion, and event organization will be viewed positively, indicating a well-rounded background suitable for the internship.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a university degree in communication or a related field. This educational background is essential as it provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication and marketing within the context of the ITU and its initiatives.
Experience: Candidates should have relevant experience in communications, community management, and social media promotion. Experience in conducting research and preparing publications is also important. The ideal candidate will have advanced IT skills and a strong interest in the ICT sector, with previous experience in database management, content creation, and event organization being advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English at an advanced level is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish would be considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid and has a duration of six months. Candidates must be under 30 years of age, although exceptions may be made for those pursuing a Ph.D. Candidates must also be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate program, or be a recent graduate within six months prior to the start of the internship. Furthermore, candidates must be citizens of a Member State of ITU. It is important to note that this non-remunerated internship does not carry the same conditions of employment as a short-term or fixed-term position, and interns are responsible for their own medical insurance, travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
