Job Overview:
The Senior Protection Associate position is crucial for managing complex protection cases within the Azraq Camp, which hosts a significant number of refugees, particularly women and girls. The role involves supporting the management of protection responses, including child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) cases. The incumbent is expected to provide high-quality protection analysis, reporting, and follow-up, ensuring that protection standards are met in line with international guidelines. The position requires strong interviewing, analytical, and drafting skills, as well as a sound understanding of protection case management guidelines. The Senior Protection Associate will also coordinate protection responses to the needs of populations of concern (PoC) and contribute to the development of a comprehensive protection strategy, ensuring that PoC are actively involved in decision-making processes that affect their lives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Protection Associate include staying informed about political, social, economic, and cultural developments that impact the protection environment. The incumbent will apply international and national law, provide advice on protection issues, assist in eligibility and status determination for PoC, and contribute to measures aimed at preventing statelessness. The role also involves managing individual protection cases, monitoring compliance with protection policies, and assisting in identifying durable solutions for PoC. The Senior Protection Associate will facilitate effective information management, participate in capacity-building initiatives for local authorities and NGOs, and support the supervisor in prioritizing reception and counseling for individuals and groups. Additionally, the incumbent will recommend and prepare payments for individual cases and ensure that risks are identified and managed effectively.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Essential qualifications include knowledge of international law, political science, or a related field. Candidates should possess functional skills in computer literacy, protection-related guidelines, and refugee protection principles. Experience in camp-based protection operations is essential, and familiarity with Jordanian authorities and advocacy skills are considered assets.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as International Law or Political Science. Certifications in these areas are essential for the role, as they provide the necessary foundation for understanding the legal and operational frameworks relevant to refugee protection and assistance.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for candidates with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree.
