Job Posting Organization: Promotion of Sustainable Development in Donga Mantung Association (PROSDOMA) was officially recognized by the Government of Cameroon in 2006 and has since been dedicated to promoting sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and migration assistance. In 2024, it achieved Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. PROSDOMA is registered as an Extra-Provincial Corporation in Alberta, Canada, and focuses on supporting newcomers in Alberta to help them settle and integrate into Canadian society. The organization provides various services including legal support for asylum and permanent residency applications, counseling, job search assistance, and skills training. PROSDOMA aims to foster social inclusion and enrich Canada’s diverse fabric by connecting newcomers to essential resources and encouraging their active participation in the community. The organization also emphasizes outreach through social media to raise awareness about its services and ensure newcomers have access to necessary support for building a fulfilling life in Canada.
Job Overview: PROSDOMA is seeking four online volunteers with expertise in project writing to enhance its resource mobilization efforts. The volunteers will play a crucial role in identifying funding opportunities and developing project proposals that align with the organization’s mission in environmental protection, humanitarian action, advocacy, and migration support. Each volunteer will independently research and identify one relevant funding opportunity that corresponds with PROSDOMA’s focus areas, which include biodiversity conservation, climate change, reforestation, plastic pollution advocacy, and migration support. Following the identification of the funding opportunity, each volunteer will draft a complete project or grant proposal in accordance with the specific donor guidelines. The proposals will then be submitted to PROSDOMA’s team for review and official submission, contributing to the organization’s goal of sustainable and impactful programming.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and identify one relevant funding opportunity that aligns with PROSDOMA’s focus areas.
Draft a complete project or grant proposal based on the identified funding opportunity, ensuring adherence to donor guidelines.
Submit the draft proposal to PROSDOMA’s team for review.
Collaborate with the PROSDOMA team to incorporate feedback and finalize the proposal for official submission.
Maintain communication with the team regarding progress and any challenges encountered during the proposal writing process.
Ensure that all proposals reflect the mission and objectives of PROSDOMA and contribute to its resource mobilization strategy.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in project writing and grant proposal development.
Strong research skills to identify relevant funding opportunities.
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to articulate project goals and objectives clearly.
Familiarity with donor guidelines and requirements for project proposals.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
A commitment to the mission of PROSDOMA and an understanding of the challenges faced by newcomers in Canada.
Educational Background: A background in fields such as international development, environmental science, social sciences, or a related area is preferred. Relevant certifications in project management or grant writing may also be beneficial.
Experience: Volunteers should have prior experience in project writing, particularly in the context of non-profit organizations or community service initiatives. Experience with environmental or humanitarian projects is a plus, as it aligns with PROSDOMA’s focus areas.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all proposals will be drafted in English. Knowledge of French or other languages may be considered an asset, especially given the multicultural context of Canada and the diverse backgrounds of newcomers.
Additional Notes: This is a remote volunteer position, allowing individuals to contribute from anywhere. The duration of the assignment is flexible, depending on the availability of the volunteers and the specific timelines for the funding opportunities identified. Volunteers will not receive monetary compensation but will gain valuable experience in project writing and resource mobilization within a supportive organizational framework.
