Job Overview: The MEAL Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of SI's humanitarian strategy by overseeing the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) department. This position involves providing technical and methodological support to program teams, ensuring that a proper Feedback and Complaint system is established to allow accessible and safe mechanisms for community engagement. The MEAL Manager is responsible for ensuring that SI's MEAL norms and standards are applied effectively in program implementation, which should be needs-driven, demonstrably impactful, and adaptable to changing contexts. The role also includes participation in work planning and addressing the challenges posed by high levels of emergency needs, a large volume of activities across multiple sectors, and the expansion of intervention areas. Initial priorities for the first few months include strengthening the Feedback and Complaint Response Mechanism (FCRM), enhancing program awareness of MEAL processes, building the capacity of the MEAL team, and maximizing the use of collected data.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field. They should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly in similar positions. Technical skills required include knowledge of Kobo, with a minimum requirement of the ability to design XLS Forms and train the team on this process. Advanced skills in Kobo, including linking forms to reports and data sources, are considered an added value. Experience in implementing complaints mechanisms and accountability is essential, along with the ability to assess the functionality and accessibility of FCRM mechanisms. Candidates should also have experience in team management and capacity building, with a focus on delegation and skill development within the MEAL team.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for effective performance in the role of MEAL Manager.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in roles that are similar to the MEAL Manager position. Additional Notes: The position is salaried, with compensation starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2100 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 750 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented, allowing for breaks every three months, along with additional rest days. Living conditions include guest house accommodations with amenities such as 24/7 internet access and recreational facilities, although social life may be limited and a curfew is in place.
