Job Overview: The VAT Input Claims Specialist will play a crucial role in assisting the UNICEF South Africa Country Office in claiming back input VAT from the South African Receiver of Revenue (SARS). This position requires a dedicated individual with expertise in VAT processes to ensure compliance with SARS regulations. The specialist will be responsible for downloading and reviewing invoices, identifying corresponding amounts on bank statements, and completing the necessary SARS templates for online submission. This role is vital for maintaining the financial integrity of UNICEF's operations in South Africa and ensuring that the organization can effectively manage its VAT claims.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Download documentation (invoices) from the Vision system.
Review invoices for compliance with SARS regulations.
Identify corresponding amounts on the Citi Bank Statement.
Print out invoices and statements for delivery to SARS.
Complete the SARS template for online submission via SARS e-filing.
Ensure all submissions are accurate and submitted within the required timeframes.
Maintain organized records of all VAT claims and related documentation.
Collaborate with finance and administrative teams to ensure seamless processing of VAT claims.
Stay updated on changes in VAT regulations and ensure compliance. 1
Provide training and support to other staff members regarding VAT processes as needed.
Required Qualifications:
A qualification in Finance, Taxation, Administration, or a related field.
Over 10 years of experience in administration or a related role.
A minimum of 5 years of experience working for UNICEF or a UN agency in South Africa.
Experience processing VAT input claims is an added advantage.
Proficiency in VISION (SAP) and eFiling systems.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a relevant qualification in Finance, Taxation, Administration, or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of VAT regulations and compliance requirements effectively.
