Job Overview:
The Finance and Admin Associate plays a crucial role in the UNFPA Country Office in The Gambia, providing leadership in the execution of financial and administrative services, including human resources functions. This position is essential for ensuring the effective and transparent utilization of financial resources and maintaining the integrity of financial services. The Associate will be responsible for mastering all relevant rules, guidelines, processes, and procedures related to UNFPA's financial operations. A client-oriented and results-focused approach is necessary to interpret these rules effectively. The Associate will also act as an advisor to program and project staff, helping to maximize the impact of financial resources in delivering programs and projects. This role requires a proactive approach to monitoring financial performance, managing operational aspects of programs, and ensuring compliance with UNFPA financial rules.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance and Admin Associate will undertake a variety of duties and responsibilities, including: supporting the monitoring of program financial performance by providing necessary financial information and analysis; managing operational aspects of program/project inputs; preparing and monitoring the administrative budget; managing the recruitment and selection process; implementing corporate systems and applications for finance and HR management; managing procurement operations; reviewing and preparing materials for common services; developing mechanisms for monitoring budgets; interpreting financial policies; assisting in CO budget management; maintaining financial recording and reporting systems; reviewing charges for common services; and supervising administrative and clerical staff as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess completed secondary level education as a minimum requirement. A first-level university degree in Finance, Business, Public Administration, or a similar discipline is desirable. Additionally, candidates should have six years of relevant experience in administration, finance, or office management. Proficiency in current office software applications, web-based management, and ERP financial systems is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes completed secondary level education, with a preference for candidates who hold a first-level university degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Business, or Public Administration. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of financial management and administrative functions within the UNFPA framework.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of relevant experience in administration, finance, or office management. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of financial processes and the ability to manage resources effectively.
