The role involves working closely with the FO Planning and Monitoring Officer to ensure timely data collection from implementing partners and the development of visual products that support evidence-based decision-making, strategic planning, monitoring, and reporting. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the reporting of programmatic data, enhancing data quality, consistency, and interoperability across sectors, and supporting the effective use of information products for internal decision-making and donor reporting. This position is essential for ensuring transparency and accountability in UNICEF's humanitarian response and recovery efforts, particularly as the organization integrates humanitarian action with recovery and development approaches.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Information Management Specialist will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:
Managing the field office Area of Responsibility (AoR) 5W database, ensuring regular data submissions by implementing partners, data consolidation, validation, cleaning, and analysis in accordance with agreed standards and timelines.
Contributing to humanitarian performance monitoring by ensuring the availability of accurate, timely, and disaggregated data to inform program planning and decision-making.
Supporting the use of 5W and related datasets for program planning, monitoring, and reporting across both development and emergency interventions.
Producing dashboards, infographics, and maps to facilitate better information use among team members and partners, and maintaining organized records of datasets, dashboards, reports, and assessments.
Supporting capacity building of partners on information management, including data collection methodologies, data quality assurance, analysis, visualization, and dissemination of information products.
Promoting common standards and good practices in information management across partners to improve interoperability and comparability of data for decision-making.
Performing any other related duties as required to support the effective implementation of the Country Programme and achieve the objectives of this assignment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management and visualization tools, and a solid understanding of information management principles. They should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and possess excellent communication skills. Familiarity with humanitarian response frameworks and experience in data analysis and reporting are essential. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a dynamic environment.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in information management, data science, statistics, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a strong foundation in data analysis and visualization techniques, as well as experience with database management systems.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field. Experience working in humanitarian contexts or with international organizations is highly desirable. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of working with diverse stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer is responsible for organizing their own accommodation. The contract is full-time and lasts for the duration indicated in the vacancy, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability and performance. The monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is USD 1690, which is intended to cover housing, utilities, and living expenses. Additional benefits include a one-time entry lump sum payment of USD 400, medical and life insurance coverage, and various leave entitlements, including annual leave, learning leave, and sick leave.
