Job Overview:
The SRH Consultant will work under the guidance of the Deputy Representative to support the implementation of initiatives within the integrated sexual and reproductive health team at UNFPA Tanzania Country Office (TCO). The consultant's primary focus will be on maternal health and family planning, ensuring that human rights and disability inclusion are integrated into all activities. The consultant will collaborate with various units within the TCO to promote universal access to sexual and reproductive health, advocate for policy and programmatic commitments, and secure domestic financing for sustainable SRHR initiatives. The role requires participation in strategic meetings, analysis of policy documents, and the development of advocacy strategies to enhance SRHR outcomes in Tanzania.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: participating in strategic meetings in Dar Es Salaam to advocate for SRHR policies; analyzing SRH-related policy papers and preparing briefs for advocacy dialogues; assessing implications of new policies on maternal health; establishing collaborative relationships with partners and UN agencies; organizing and supporting relevant forums and technical working groups; providing technical inputs on SRH documents; leading initiatives under various maternal health programs; drafting briefing notes and statements; contributing to resource mobilization proposals; promoting digital health solutions; implementing knowledge management strategies; and providing technical support for the development and monitoring of workplans. The consultant will also be expected to deliver monthly reports and a thought piece on family planning and maternal health.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least five years of professional experience in reproductive health or maternal health program management. They should demonstrate technical expertise in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), results-oriented management skills, and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly. Experience in writing proposals and mobilizing resources is essential, along with a proven track record of networking and liaising with government counterparts, NGOs, and UN agencies. Strong interpersonal skills, political acumen, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based management systems are also required.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in public health, social/health policy and planning, health systems, or related social sciences is required for this position. Candidates with degrees in development studies or similar disciplines will also be considered.

Experience:
The consultant should have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, particularly in program management related to reproductive health and maternal health. Experience in implementing health programs within the context of health sector SWAPs is preferred, along with a demonstrated ability to achieve results using management tools.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is set to run from January 28, 2026, to May 29, 2026, with office working hours from 08:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday to Thursday) and 07:30 am to 1:30 pm (Friday). The consultant will be compensated according to UNFPA's individual consultant payment guidelines.
