In 2024, PROSDOMA achieved Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, which underscores its commitment to addressing pressing global issues. The organization is registered as an Extra-Provincial Corporation in Alberta, Canada, and focuses on supporting newcomers in Alberta by providing essential services that facilitate their integration into Canadian society. PROSDOMA offers assistance with asylum and permanent residency applications, counseling services, job search support, and training in computer skills. The organization also connects newcomers with vital resources such as food banks, shelters, and tax filing assistance, ensuring that their basic needs are met as they navigate their new environment. Beyond providing basic support, PROSDOMA aims to foster social inclusion by encouraging newcomers to actively contribute to their communities, thereby enriching Canada’s diverse fabric. Additionally, PROSDOMA is committed to expanding its outreach through social media platforms to raise awareness about the services available to newcomers, ensuring they have access to the necessary support to build a stable and fulfilling life in Canada.

Job Overview:
PROSDOMA is currently seeking three online volunteers with expertise in project writing to enhance its resource mobilization efforts. The primary function of this position is to identify funding opportunities and develop project proposals that align with the organization’s focus areas, which include biodiversity conservation, climate change, reforestation, humanitarian action, plastic pollution advocacy, and migration support. Each volunteer will independently research and identify one relevant funding opportunity that corresponds with PROSDOMA’s mission and objectives. Following the identification of a suitable funding opportunity, each volunteer will be responsible for drafting a complete project or grant proposal that adheres to the specific guidelines provided by the donor. The proposals will be submitted to PROSDOMA’s team for review and will be officially submitted by the organization upon completion. This role is crucial in supporting PROSDOMA’s efforts to secure funding for impactful programming that addresses environmental and social challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct independent research to identify relevant funding opportunities that align with PROSDOMA’s focus areas.
  • Draft one complete project or grant proposal based on the identified funding opportunity, ensuring adherence to donor guidelines.
  • Submit draft proposals to PROSDOMA’s team for review and feedback.
  • Revise proposals as necessary based on feedback received from the team.
  • Collaborate with PROSDOMA’s team to ensure that proposals accurately reflect the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Maintain clear communication with the team regarding progress and any challenges encountered during the proposal writing process.
  • Stay informed about trends and developments in the fields of environmental protection, humanitarian action, and migration support to enhance proposal quality.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in project writing or grant proposal development.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to identify relevant funding opportunities.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Familiarity with donor guidelines and requirements for project proposals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • A commitment to the mission and values of PROSDOMA, particularly in relation to sustainable development and social inclusion.

Educational Background:
A background in fields related to project management, environmental science, social sciences, or a related discipline is preferred. A degree or equivalent qualification in these areas would be advantageous, but relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in project writing or grant proposal development, ideally within the non-profit sector. Experience working with organizations focused on environmental protection, humanitarian action, or migration support will be considered a strong asset. Volunteers should be comfortable working independently and possess the ability to conduct thorough research to identify funding opportunities.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all proposals will be drafted in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly French or Spanish, would be considered a valuable asset, as it may enhance communication with a broader range of potential donors and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position, allowing individuals to contribute from anywhere. The duration of the assignment is flexible, depending on the availability of the volunteers and the specific timelines associated with the funding opportunities identified. Volunteers will not receive monetary compensation but will gain valuable experience in project writing and resource mobilization within a reputable organization dedicated to sustainable development and social inclusion.
