Job Overview: The Senior Manager, People & Culture (SMPC) plays a crucial role in managing all people operations within the People & Culture team at Save the Children Canada. Reporting to the Deputy Chief People Officer North America (DCPONA), the SMPC is responsible for implementing various people operations initiatives and projects that contribute to the strategic planning and transformation of the organization. This position requires collaboration with people leaders and employees to provide a range of data-informed, inclusive, and streamlined people services. The SMPC acts as a lead business partner and trusted advisor, ensuring alignment with employment legislation, collective agreements, and organizational goals related to hiring, engagement, development, and retention of staff. The role also involves interaction with HR counterparts in the USA and the UK, and direct supervision of assigned members of the People & Culture team.
Duties and Responsibilities: The SMPC's responsibilities include supervising the day-to-day operations of the People & Culture team, providing operational support to people managers and employees, and demonstrating expertise in HR best practices, labour relations, policy and programs, compensation, recruitment, global mobility, and employee relations. The SMPC is tasked with implementing a client-focused HR operating model, ensuring a positive employee experience through P&C programs, managing total compensation and benefits, engaging with the CUPE Union, overseeing global mobility processes, scheduling P&C team meetings, leading talent management initiatives, and supporting change management efforts. The SMPC is also responsible for maintaining compliance with employment legislation and fostering a respectful, values-driven culture within the organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience, with a preference for those holding a CHRL designation. A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR management experience is required, including supervisory experience to effectively guide and advise leaders. Experience in the International Development, NGO/INGO, or not-for-profit sectors is preferred, along with prior HR management experience in a union setting. Candidates should have deep knowledge of relevant legislation, experience in change management and conflict resolution, and strong technical skills in MS Office and HRIS systems. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
Educational Background: A post-secondary education in a relevant field is required, with a preference for candidates who have obtained a CHRL designation. Additional Notes: The salary range for this role is between $98,594.73 - 116,449.57 CAD, depending on skills and experience. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a hybrid workplace with remote work options, flexible hours, and generous vacation policies.
