Job Overview:
The SRH Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of initiatives within the integrated sexual and reproductive health team at UNFPA Tanzania Country Office (TCO). This position involves collaborating with various units to promote universal access to sexual and reproductive health services, particularly in maternal health and family planning. The consultant will engage in policy advocacy, analyze relevant documents, and develop strategies that align with national and global commitments. The role requires a proactive approach to integrating human rights and disability inclusion into all aspects of the work, ensuring that the needs of marginalized populations are addressed. The consultant will also be responsible for drafting key documents, providing technical inputs, and supporting resource mobilization efforts to sustain SRH initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with participating in strategic meetings to advocate for the development and implementation of policies related to sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). This includes analyzing policy papers, preparing briefs for advocacy dialogues, and assessing the implications of new policies on maternal health programs. Establishing collaborative relationships with partners and government counterparts is essential for the timely delivery of projects. The consultant will organize and support various forums and working groups to enhance UNFPA's mandate in SRH and maternal health. Responsibilities also include providing technical inputs on SRH documents, leading initiatives under the Midwifery Programme, and drafting various advocacy materials. The consultant will contribute to resource mobilization proposals and ensure alignment with donor priorities. Additionally, the consultant will promote the integration of digital health solutions and support knowledge management strategies to document best practices in SRHR.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least five years of professional experience in reproductive health or maternal health program management. They should demonstrate technical expertise in sexual and reproductive health rights and have a results-oriented approach, utilizing results-based management tools effectively. Strong communication skills are necessary for articulating complex issues to diverse audiences. Experience in writing proposals and mobilizing resources is essential, along with a proven track record of networking and liaising with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and development partners. Candidates should exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, political acumen, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based management systems.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in public health, social or health policy and planning, health systems, or related social sciences is required for this position. Candidates with degrees in development studies or other relevant disciplines will also be considered.

Experience:
The consultant should have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, particularly in program management related to reproductive and maternal health. Experience in implementing health programs within the context of health sector SWAPs is preferred. Demonstrated results orientation and familiarity with results-based management tools are critical for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is set to run from 19 January 2026 to 29 May 2026, with office hours from 08:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday to Thursday) and 07:30 am to 1:30 pm (Friday). The consultant will be compensated according to UNFPA's individual consultant payment guidelines.
