Job Overview:
The Faculty Member position at UNRWA involves teaching and leading instructional activities as outlined in the approved curriculum and faculty by-laws. The incumbent will be responsible for lecturing, leading seminars, conducting individual and group tutorials, and overseeing evaluation activities, including writing and correcting examinations and papers. Additionally, the role includes planning, organizing, and supervising practice-teaching activities for faculty students and teacher-trainees enrolled in both pre-service and in-service teacher training programs. The Faculty Member will also engage in research activities aimed at promoting knowledge and improving teaching-learning practices within UNRWA educational establishments. Guidance and counseling for students and teacher-trainees in educational and personal matters are also key components of this role. The Faculty Member will plan and supervise community service programs that benefit local Palestinian communities, collaborate with faculty students and teacher-trainees, and participate in scholarly activities to enhance academic and professional competencies. Furthermore, the incumbent will be involved in faculty planning and management through participation in meetings and committees, contributing to curriculum reviews and adjustments as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant subject of specialization from an accredited and recognized university or higher learning institution. Additionally, candidates should have a record of written scholarly work, including publications in recognized journals or books related to the faculty curriculum. The position requires a strong commitment to the values of integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity, as well as core competencies in communication, teamwork, and results-driven performance.
Educational Background:
A Ph.D. in the relevant subject area is mandatory for this position. The degree must be obtained from an accredited and recognized institution of higher learning. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong background in scholarly work, including publications in reputable academic journals or books that align with the faculty's curriculum.
Experience:
Candidates are required to have at least two years of progressively responsible professional experience in postsecondary teaching and practice teaching. This experience should be relevant to the position and demonstrate the candidate's ability to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the job description.
Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. Candidates must meet the minimum required level for each language skill according to the UN Language Framework, which includes reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities in both languages.
Additional Notes:
This position is a Fixed Term Appointment for one year, which includes a one-year probation period. There is a possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and the availability of funds. The monthly basic salary for this position is USD 1,744.30, payable in Jordanian Dinar at the UN monthly exchange rate. Additional benefits include a monthly Provident Fund contribution, compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. Employees are entitled to sick leave, maternity leave, and paternity leave as specified. The vacancy is open only to internal candidates, and only those residing in the West Bank or Jerusalem with authorization to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible. The Agency will not facilitate work permits, and applicants must reside in Ramallah governorate or nearby to be considered.
