Job Overview:
The position of Faculty Member involves teaching and leading instructional activities as outlined in the approved curriculum and faculty by-laws. The incumbent will be responsible for lecturing, leading seminars, conducting individual and group tutorials, and overseeing evaluation activities such as writing and correcting examinations and papers. Additionally, the Faculty Member will plan, organize, and supervise practice-teaching activities for students and teacher-trainees enrolled in both pre-service and in-service teacher training programs. The role also includes conducting and supervising research activities aimed at enhancing knowledge and improving teaching practices within UNRWA educational establishments. The Faculty Member will provide guidance and counseling to students and teacher-trainees regarding educational needs, study plans, course selection, and personal matters related to educational adjustment. Furthermore, the incumbent will organize community service programs to support local Palestinian communities and engage in scholarly activities to promote educational thought and practices. Participation in faculty planning and management through meetings and committees is also expected, along with performing any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant field of specialization from an accredited and recognized university or higher learning institution. Additionally, candidates should have a record of scholarly work, including publications in recognized journals or books that are directly related to the faculty curriculum.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience in postsecondary teaching and practice teaching is required for this position. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to effectively engage with students and contribute to educational practices.
Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. The minimum required level for each skill in these languages is as follows: English - UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking; Arabic - UN Level I for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Additional Notes:
This position is a Fixed Term Appointment for one year, including a one-year probation period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The monthly basic salary is USD 1,744.30, payable in Jordanian Dinar at the UN monthly exchange rate. Additional benefits include a monthly Provident Fund contribution, compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. Sick leave is granted at a rate of two days for each completed month of service, along with 14 weeks of maternity leave and two weeks of paternity leave. Only candidates residing in the West Bank or Jerusalem and within commuting distance of the duty station are eligible to apply. The Agency will not facilitate work permits, and applicants must have valid work authorization. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from underrepresented genders to promote gender parity.
