Job Overview:
The Faculty Member position at UNRWA involves teaching and leading instructional activities as outlined in the approved curriculum and faculty by-laws. The incumbent will be responsible for lecturing, leading seminars, conducting individual and group tutorials, and evaluating student performance through writing and correcting examinations and papers. Additionally, the role includes planning and supervising practice-teaching activities for both pre-service and in-service teacher training programs. Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant subject area from an accredited and recognized university or higher learning institution. This advanced degree is essential for the role, as it ensures that the Faculty Member has the necessary expertise and knowledge to effectively teach and guide students in their academic pursuits.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience in postsecondary teaching and practice teaching. This experience is crucial for ensuring that the Faculty Member is well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of the role and to provide quality education to students and teacher-trainees.
Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. The minimum required level for each skill in these languages is as follows: English - UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking; Arabic - UN Level I for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication and instruction within the UNRWA educational framework.
Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is a Fixed Term Appointment for one year, which includes a one-year probation period. There is a possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and the availability of funds. The monthly basic salary for this position is USD 1,744.30, payable in Jordanian Dinars at the UN monthly exchange rate. Additional benefits include a monthly Provident Fund contribution, compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. Employees are entitled to sick leave, maternity leave, and paternity leave as specified. This vacancy is open to internal candidates only, and only those residing in the West Bank or Jerusalem with authorization to work in the duty station are eligible to apply.
