Job Overview: The Public intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Intern will be stationed at the United Nations Information Centre in Mexico City, where they will support various communications activities. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the UNIC’s Director and/or the National Information Officer (NIO), contributing to the strategic communication efforts of the United Nations in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The role involves assisting with research, drafting, and production of communications products, particularly in audiovisual formats. The intern will also engage in outreach efforts to diverse audiences through both traditional and digital communication channels, thereby enhancing the UN's presence and impact in the region. This internship is unpaid and requires a commitment of 35 hours per week for a duration of six months, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international communications and public information.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the communications activities of UNIC Mexico; assisting in the research, drafting, and production of communications products, especially audiovisual materials; engaging in outreach efforts to various publics through traditional and new digital means of communication; supporting the strategic communication of the United Nations in Mexico and the broader Latin American and Caribbean region; coordinating communication activities among UN System agencies in Mexico; producing multimedia stories and digital assets for web and social media; drafting and editing content in both Spanish and English; liaising with civil society, academia, and NGOs in Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic; organizing events related to UN issues; and collaborating with public and private sectors to promote UN education and youth participation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No prior working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme, but candidates should possess skills and knowledge that would benefit the UN during their internship.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor’s degree program. This educational foundation should provide the intern with relevant skills and knowledge applicable to the tasks they will undertake during the internship.
Experience: No prior work experience is necessary for this internship position. However, candidates should demonstrate relevant training, education, or skills that would contribute positively to the United Nations' objectives during their internship.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written Spanish is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat. Fluency in English is desirable, as it will facilitate communication and collaboration within the UN system and with international partners.

Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Mexico may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.
