Job Overview: The position of Driver is crucial for the effective implementation of the Inclusive Jobs and Education for Host Communities, Refugees, and Other Forcibly Displaced Persons in Kenya, known as PROSPECTS. The driver will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services for the project team and other authorized personnel. This role includes meeting officials and visitors at the airport, assisting with protocol, and ensuring the proper maintenance and operation of the project vehicle. The driver will also be expected to keep accurate records of vehicle usage and assist with various logistical tasks related to the project. This position is vital for facilitating the movement of staff and ensuring that project activities are carried out smoothly and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities: The driver will be responsible for the following duties:
Provide safe and reliable driving services for the Office project team and authorized personnel.
Meet officials and visitors at the airport, assisting with protocol, visa, and customs formalities as necessary.
Collect and deliver mail, documents, and other items for official purposes.
Ensure cost savings through proper vehicle use and maintenance of daily vehicle logs.
Maintain the project vehicle in good running condition, including timely minor repairs and arrangements for major repairs.
Ensure availability of all required documents and supplies in assigned vehicles, including vehicle insurance and registration.
Keep records of vehicle use, daily mileage, gas consumption, and maintenance services.
Follow rules and regulations in case of accidents and ensure all required documents are updated.
Assist office staff with filing, photocopying, and maintaining stores. 1
Help with logistics such as arranging meetings and travel plans for the project team. 1
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed Secondary School education and possess a valid driving license. They should have knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent knowledge of local driving rules, good knowledge of local roads and conditions, and the ability to keep accurate records of vehicle use. Skills in minor vehicle repair and the ability to operate communication devices are also required. Candidates should exhibit polite and cooperative behavior and demonstrate a high level of collegiality and teamwork.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is the completion of Secondary School education. A valid driving license is mandatory, along with knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Skills in minor vehicle repair are also essential for this role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of work experience as a driver with a proven safe driving record. Experience in providing clerical support is also beneficial for this position, as the driver will assist with various administrative tasks.
Languages: Excellent command of English and Kiswahili is required for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on various factors such as availability of funds and satisfactory performance. The entry-level salary for this position is 1,651,201 Kenyan Shillings yearly.
