Job Overview:
The internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme at IOM is designed to attract talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in migration-related issues. Interns are expected to be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience. The program aims to provide interns with practical experience in areas relevant to IOM's programs and activities. Interns may be required to hold a scholarship for internship placements or be sponsored by governmental or non-governmental institutions. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of senior staff in IOM Bern, assisting in various operations related to voluntary returns and reintegration, communication projects, and resettlement programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will assist in the general operations linked to the preparation and follow-up of assisted voluntary returns and reintegration, working closely with IOM offices in countries of return, Swiss return counselors, and relevant Swiss authorities. Responsibilities include supporting the project manager of the assisted voluntary return and reintegration program for victims of trafficking, assisting in case management, reporting, and documentation. The intern will also support the project manager of return counseling in Federal Asylum Centers and engage in communication projects, including preparing background documents and updating communication materials. Additional duties involve preparing for the arrival of refugee groups in Switzerland, ensuring information flow between countries, and preparing reports and statistics. The intern will also assist in the planning of events related to information dissemination and networking.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree at the Bachelor or Master level in Social or Political Science, International Relations, or a related field. They should demonstrate a specific interest in migration issues and have the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
A university degree (Bachelor or Master level) in Social or Political Science, International Relations, or a related field is required for this internship position. Candidates should ideally be enrolled in their final academic year or have graduated within the last 12 months.

Experience:
While prior working experience is not mandatory, any experience within the field of migration will be considered an advantage. Interns should be eager to learn and contribute to the organization's mission while gaining valuable insights into the workings of international migration.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of German, French, and English is required. Proficiency in these languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The internship is open only to Swiss or EU/EFTA nationals, preferably those with an existing residence and/or work permit for Switzerland. Any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation and medical fitness certification. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, but those already receiving financial support from their university or other sponsoring bodies will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational incidents. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance and must provide proof of coverage before starting work. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy on misconduct and does not charge any fees during the recruitment process.
