Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the System Engineering Section of the GNSS Regional Augmentation System Division, specifically focusing on the EGNOS System Performance Analysis Environment. The intern will be tasked with enhancing the operability of the EGNOS V3 deployment and performance qualification phase. This involves working on the upgrade of existing modules and the development of new modules that improve analysis capacities and overall operability. The intern will engage in collecting user needs, operating analysis tools, defining development approaches, and implementing software using real data from the EGNOS System. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement in performance analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for several key activities, including:
  • Collecting user needs for the specification of upgrades for internal publications within the Division/Department.
  • Operating analysis and comparison tools to familiarize themselves with analysis outputs and their interface control documents.
  • Defining the development approach for software upgrades.
  • Implementing and testing software using real data from the EGNOS System performance analysis environment.
  • Supporting the entry into operations of upgraded modules.
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure that system engineering activities align with development plans and comply with applicable system requirements and standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be university students, preferably at the master's level, and must provide proof of enrollment for the entire duration of the internship. A good knowledge of English or French is required, and familiarity with another ESA Member State language is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should possess knowledge in areas such as computer science, Linux, cloud computing, website development, databases, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), particularly the European Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) known as EGNOS.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as engineering, computer science, or a related discipline. The internship is designed for students who are currently enrolled in a university program and can demonstrate their academic commitment throughout the internship period.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or projects related to system engineering, software development, or performance analysis will be advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a technical environment.

Languages:
Proficiency in English or French is mandatory, as these are the working languages of the Agency. Knowledge of an additional language from an ESA Member State is considered beneficial and may enhance the candidate's application.
