Job Overview:
The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern will play a crucial role in increasing visibility and driving the adoption of Child-Lens Investing within the Innovative Finance Hub at UNICEF. This position is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience, where the intern will work closely with the Hub team and report to the Communications Specialist. The intern will be responsible for producing a variety of communication assets, including web articles, newsletters, multimedia content, and advocacy materials, while also developing impactful social media content. The role involves supporting the organization of events and conferences, copyediting documents, maintaining a communication asset database, and analyzing communication activities to assess their effectiveness. The intern will also coordinate with key stakeholders, including UNICEF National Committees, to enhance communication efforts and provide general support to the Innovative Finance Hub team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's primary responsibilities will include:
  • Producing timely and effective communication assets such as web articles, human interest stories, newsletters, thought pieces, multimedia content (videos, photos), press releases, and advocacy materials in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Developing clear and impactful social media content to promote Child-Lens Investing.
  • Supporting the coordination and organization of events and conferences related to the Hub's initiatives.
  • Copyediting relevant documents, including communication materials, reports, and briefing notes as required.
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive communication asset database that includes human interest stories, videos, social media assets, publications, press releases, clippings, photographs, and audio-visual materials.
  • Monitoring and analyzing communication activities to assess their effectiveness and making recommendations for improvements, including mapping relevant media.
  • Coordinating with key stakeholders such as UNICEF National Committees and CLI stakeholders on communications activities.
  • Providing general support to the Innovative Finance Hub team, including assistance with tasks related to innovative finance as needed.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, candidates must be enrolled in a master’s degree program at a recognized university, or be an undergraduate student or a recent graduate (within two years of graduation) in Communications, Media, International Development, Finance, or a related field. Previous experience in communications, including internships, is essential. Familiarity with the sustainable finance sector and the Finnish ecosystem will be considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, along with the ability to conceptualize, plan, and execute ideas effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently completed a degree in Communications, Media, International Development, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university. Academic performance should be good, as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.

Experience:
Candidates should have previous experience in communications, which can include internships or relevant work experience. Experience in the sustainable finance sector and familiarity with the Finnish ecosystem is advantageous but not mandatory.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This internship is a full-time commitment for a duration of 6 months, with no expectancy of employment at the end. Interns must be at least 18 years old and must provide their own laptop. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend unless they are already receiving support for the internship from another source. Interns are responsible for arranging their own visa or immigration requirements. The internship will preferably be conducted in-person at the UNICEF office in Helsinki, Finland. Candidates must have proof of medical insurance covering the duration of the internship and must not have immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office. Background checks will be conducted, and selected candidates may need to provide additional information for verification.
