Job Overview:
The internship program at UNICEF aims to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience while enhancing their educational journey. Interns will be assigned to UNICEF offices where they will support various functions, particularly in the context of child rights advocacy and education. The intern will work under the supervision of the Deputy Representative and collaborate with other colleagues to support knowledge management, research, and data analysis efforts. The role is designed to expose interns to UNICEF's operations and provide them with insights into the organization's work in promoting children's rights and education in Namibia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support knowledge management efforts related to the work supported by UNICEF Namibia Country Office (NCO). This includes monitoring the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, producing knowledge products, and disseminating information through various platforms.
  • Assist in organizing virtual events and knowledge exchanges to engage with the produced knowledge.
  • Conduct data collection, compilation, and analysis to support effective implementation of NCO work, including drafting research reports and maintaining organized documentation.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the NCO, contributing to the learning objectives of the internship.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must be recent or current graduates in relevant fields such as economics, international relations, public policy, statistics, finance, international development, education, public health, communication, social science, or liberal arts. Candidates should not have immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office and must be between the ages of 18-35 years. Experience in drafting research briefs or articles is considered an asset, and applicants should possess excellent interpersonal, writing, communication, and analytical skills.

Educational Background:
Applicants should have a recent or current degree in fields related to economics, international relations, public policy, statistics, finance, international development, education, public health, communication, social science, or liberal arts. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of UNICEF's work and contributing effectively to the organization's mission.

Experience:
While specific work experience is not mandatory, having experience in drafting research briefs or articles is advantageous. Interns are expected to demonstrate a willingness to learn and contribute to UNICEF's objectives, particularly in the context of child rights and education.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of a local language is considered an asset, as it may enhance communication and engagement with local communities and stakeholders.
