Job Overview: The Logistics Associate position at WFP is designed to implement well-defined standard logistics and supply chain processes to ensure the effective delivery of goods and services across various modalities. The role requires the incumbent to take responsibility for a range of logistics operations, ensuring that food assistance reaches beneficiaries in a timely and efficient manner. The Logistics Associate will work closely with logistics vendors, manage inventory, and support the preparation of budgets while adhering to corporate standards. This position is crucial in maintaining the integrity of logistics operations and ensuring that all processes align with WFP's mission to combat hunger and support vulnerable populations. The incumbent will also be expected to contribute to operational planning and assist in monitoring logistics performance, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Associate will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Providing support to logistics operations and activities, ensuring effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
Supporting the timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations.
Managing logistics vendors’ contracting activities, including performance monitoring and measurement.
Responding to technical queries and requests for support, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of inquiries.
Contributing to budget preparation, monitoring, and revision for all delivery modalities, ensuring compliance with corporate standards.
Assisting in monitoring inventory management processes to track trends and account for inventory status from source to beneficiary.
Managing commodity accounting data quality and integrity.
Supporting operational pipeline analyses and assessments for all delivery modalities.
Processing documentation for logistics operations, including customs clearance and invoice verification. 1
Collecting and compiling data to produce reports and ensure information accuracy in corporate systems. 1
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient logistics operations management. 1
Providing guidance to support staff to assist them in completing standard tasks to agreed standards and deadlines.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles. They should have experience using corporate systems to monitor shipments and analyze data related to commodities and funds. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to draft reports and assist in contract documentation preparation. A client service mindset is essential, along with the capability to provide technical business support in corporate systems. The ideal candidate will also have experience in measuring service providers’ performance against established KPIs.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a related functional area is desirable, providing candidates with a foundational understanding of logistics and supply chain processes.
Experience: Candidates should have relevant experience in logistics operations, particularly in monitoring shipments and analyzing data. Experience in drafting reports and assisting with contract documentation is also essential. The role requires familiarity with corporate systems and the ability to provide technical support in logistics management.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within WFP and with stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of the Caribbean region.
Additional Notes: This position is a Short Term, Full Time role under a Service Contract Level 5 (SC 5) for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and operational requirements. The duty station is Bridgetown, Barbados, and the selected candidate may be required to travel regionally and internationally to support missions and emergency responses. The position offers a competitive salary starting at BBD $5,015.84 per month, along with benefits such as annual leave, health insurance, and professional development opportunities.
