Job Overview:
The Warehouse Associate position at WFP is crucial for ensuring the effective management of commodities within the warehouse. The role involves receiving and dispatching food and non-food items, maintaining accurate records of inventory, and ensuring compliance with established standards. The Warehouse Associate will be responsible for conducting daily inspections of the warehouse, preparing reports on the quality and quantity of commodities, and implementing measures to safeguard the items stored. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, particularly in identifying and addressing discrepancies in stock levels. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Effectively receive and dispatch commodities, ensuring accuracy in physical counts and compliance with quality standards.
  • Prepare, verify, and sign off on warehouse and transport documents, maintaining accurate transaction records.
  • Conduct daily warehouse closing reconciliations and inventory checks to support internal control systems.
  • Perform daily inspections and prepare reports on the condition of commodities, investigating discrepancies and recommending solutions.
  • Implement measures to safeguard food and non-food commodities, ensuring quality control in line with WFP procedures.
  • Monitor warehouse conditions and take actions to optimize space planning and organization.
  • Provide guidance and on-the-job training to warehouse staff to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure efficient logistics-operations" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">logistics operations and support WFP's overall mission.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary school education or a university degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in Warehouse Management, Inventory Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least four years of relevant work experience with a Secondary School Certificate, or a minimum of two years of relevant experience with a university degree.
  • Proven experience in storekeeping, warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in using logistics databases and software for reporting and inventory management.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary school education or possess a university degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in relevant fields such as Warehouse Management, Inventory Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of warehouse operations and logistics management.

Experience:
The position requires at least four years of relevant work experience for candidates with a Secondary School Certificate. For those with a university degree, a minimum of two years of relevant experience is required. This experience should be in areas such as storekeeping, warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics, or supply chain management, demonstrating a solid understanding of the operational aspects of warehouse management.

Languages:
Fluency in English (level C) and Somali is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication within the team and with stakeholders, ensuring that all operational procedures are understood and followed correctly.
