Job Overview:
The English Language Training (ELT) Instructor plays a crucial role in providing integrated English language instruction tailored specifically for non-native English speakers. This position requires the instructor to develop and adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students enrolled in the program. The ELT Instructor is responsible for supporting the overall administration of the program, which includes conducting student recruitment, managing registration processes, tracking attendance, and implementing strategies to enhance student retention and progress. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the ELT Instructor include, but are not limited to: delivering integrated English Language Training instruction; receiving client referrals and conducting initial assessments; performing comprehensive evaluations of each student to ensure quality assurance through pre-tests and post-tests; planning, preparing, maintaining, and updating curricula and lesson plans for mixed-level classes; tuning lesson activities to accommodate a range of English proficiency levels, from pre-literate to high intermediate; utilizing and overseeing community volunteers as classroom assistants; completing necessary documentation to comply with funding and licensing requirements; evaluating clients’ English language skills to assess progress; compiling data and performing data entry for comprehensive reports; documenting attendance and student progress; assisting in recruitment and retention activities; providing instruction in both in-person and online formats; managing attendance data reports for community partners; and fulfilling other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the ELT Instructor position include a Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, or a related field, with a graduate degree preferred but not mandatory. An English language instruction certification is required. Candidates should have experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), with a preference for those who have at least 2 years of ESL teaching experience. Experience working with immigrant populations and adults is strongly preferred, as is experience with workforce and job training programs. Candidates should demonstrate strong written and oral English language skills, and TESOL certification is strongly preferred. Additionally, online instruction or learning experience is preferred, along with proven cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds.

Candidates for the ELT Instructor position are required to possess a Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, or a related field. While a graduate degree is preferred, it is not a strict requirement.
